An opera of dazzling surfaces, knowing theatrical tropes and deliberate distancing effects.

Why see Opera Omaha - The Rakes Progress?
A Rake Is As A Rake Does
The Rake's Progress is coming to the Orpheum Theater this winter. Set to be performed by the prestigious Opera Omaha, Igor Stravinsky's three-act work first premiered in 1951 at Venice's Teatro La Fenice and has since been performed all over the world. Stravinsky was inspired to write the piece after seeing William Hogarth's series of paintings by the same name. The Rake's Progress will appear on the Omaha stage for two nights only, so get your tickets now!
What's it about?
Tom Rakewell is a young man who is drawn like so many to a life of excess. He leaves his situation in pursuit of his desire, but will he survive with his soul intact, or will he descend into madness and despair?
